2022 Chardonnay

The 2022 Chardonnay from J.L. Kiff Vineyard rested for 1 year in mostly neutral French oak barrels. Pouring a light lemon core with a silvery rim, it gifts notes of fresh yellow apple, sweet spices, white mushrooms, and damp earth. The palate is much the same, bringing a tree-fruit finish to the moderate acidity and lengthy stone-driven finish. Just 104 cases produced. Screwcap. 2024-2030.
2017 Pinot Noir

The 2017 J.L. Kiff Vineyard Pinot Noir spent 12 months in all neutral French oak and pours a medium ruby-garnet core with a light rose rim. For being 7 years old, this is a wonderfully fresh and elegant wine from the cooler 2017 vintage. Lovely notes of black raspberries, sweet blue plums, lemony herbs, butterscotch, and sweet vanilla beans spill from the glass. Tannins are still present and perfectly balanced with the lush acidity and black-fruit finish. This still has a decade of life ahead of it. 280 cases made. 2024-2034
2016 Pinot Noir

As in 2015, this estate-grown fruit hits 15% alcohol yet retains a fine, concentrated focus. The burnished fruit brings in strawberry rhubarb pie, cranberry and sharp black cherry notes. There are darker streaks of espresso also. Tasted twice over several months, this slightly reductive wine will benefit from another couple of years of bottle age. Drink after 2022.

The nose is ripe and saturated black fruit, abundant spice and rose petal. There is excellent fruit intensity on entry that sustains into the mid-palate where layers of fruit and dry spice create a firmly focused finish. Drink 2020-2028.
